3350 Peachtree Street
Atlanta, GA
3350 Peachtree is nestled in the heart of Buckhead’s financial district at the intersection of Peachtree and Georgia 400.
Located in an urban district this Class A office building enjoys typical urban amenities such as easy transit and restaurant access, but also is uniquely positioned to take advantage of distinct amenities in the form of Path400 and a future open space planned to cap Georgia 400, Hub404.
To capitalize on the project’s unique position, a new 1-acre outdoor plaza has been designed to span atop an expanded parking structure. The inspiration for the forms played off the design for the future Hub404 highway cap and the paintings of Roberto Burle Marx.
The reason for the highly graphic patterning of space and use was to exploit the views to the new on-structure plaza from the many surrounding buildings, piquing curiosity and generating a desire to visit the space.
The plaza serves as an outdoor meeting space, event area, or a place to have lunch or read a book. As is typical in an office environment, flexibility is key to ensuring the plaza can support a variety of users and scale of uses.
To accomplish this, the forms viewed from above articulate at the human scale into various seating and working areas along with multiple open areas for larger gatherings.
