An extraordinary makeover story, The Shops Around Lenox project reimagined a languishing strip of shops & restaurants, originally built in 1979, and situated between a top-performing Neiman Marcus and a new W Hotel, in Atlanta’s prestigious Buckhead area.
The owner was determined to create a unique shopping experience to compete with other, more highly-touted retail centers within walking distance. Our team approach included enhancing the parking & circulation, and creating inviting & refined outdoor spaces not only as a beautiful foreground for the retail environment, but also as an environment unto itself, offering patrons a place to linger. The redevelopment was completed in the spring of 2011 and continues to prove successful. The project was sold in December 2013, for $71.8 million, or $575/square foot, a record price for any intown shopping development that year.
In awarding the project the ULI Development of Excellence Award, ULI Awards Co-Chair and Executive Producer Tara Makarechi said, “The renovation is the perfect example of how modern design and fresh tenancy can revitalize existing infrastructure.” she added.
